Personal Biography Statement

Dr. Everett is a Colorado native, born and raised in the Denver metropolitan area. He graduated from Arvada West High School, and holds a B.A. from Western State College of Colorado and an M.A. from Colorado State University. Dr. Everett earned his doctorate in history at the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Everett specializes in Colorado and Western history, with an emphasis on geography and politics. His first book, _The Colorado State Capitol: History, Politics, Preservation_, was published by the University Press of Colorado in 2005. He also volunteers at the statehouse as a tour guide and researcher. Dr. Everett's second book, _Creating the American West: Boundaries and Borderlands_, was published by the University of Oklahoma Press in 2014.
